Our topic this week: Top 10 Keepsakes We Collect From Disney Parks!

For many of you, the holiday shopping has begun. Of course, all Disney fanatics have a lot of Disney themed items on our lists for others – AND OURSELVES!

I asked our intrepid panel of parental patrons what they enjoy collecting when they’re in the parks and we share that list with you – hopefully giving you some inspiration as you shop till you drop this holiday season.

Our merry band of 11 voters came up with over 40 different items we collect. That’s a LOT of space you need left in your suitcase for the flight home!

What made our Top 10? Let’s have a look, shall we? Yeah, I thought you’d say that.

Toys
Anything for Everyone
Top 10 Score: 1.59, nominated on 4 of 11 ballots.

Name a Disney animated movie. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Ok, good. There are toys for that at the Disney Parks. The World of Disney Store at Disney Springs in Orlando is like the Toys R Us of all things Disney. Every shop has toys. Every resort has toys. Yeah, there are toys everywhere in the park.

Look for ones that state Park Exclusive on it. I hate it when I buy a toy set, lug it around in my luggage, and find it (cheaper) on the shelf at WalMart back home!

Autographs
Get The Mouse’s John Hancock!
Top 10 Score: 2.00, nominated on 3 of 11 ballots. 1 first place vote.

Photo: Disney

Did you know that every CM who plays a character has to learn to sign their signature the exact same way as every other CM who plays that character? It’s pretty amazing! It works well in the fixed character meets (you wait in line, in a specific place) for the Character’s Friend to help keep track of the books and be sure they’re all signed.

On the streets, the character may not have time to sign, so they’ll hand you over a post card with their signature on it. (Keith: Peter Pan did this for us as he was running to a break.)

Also, not every character can sign (many of the Star Wars ones). However, you can ask the Character Helper for a sticker and they usually have a supply for you to put in your autograph books.

Shirts
Everyone loves a good Tee!
Top 10 Score: 2.09, nominated on 7 of 11 ballots.

Photo: Disney

You can get your shirts customized with your names. You can get them on Etsy. You can make them yourselves. But the park exclusive shirts (especially for special events or ride debuts, etc) make a fantastic keepsake for your trip to the parks.

And yes, it’s warm enough for you to wear a t-shirt in Disney World pretty much every day of the year….

Smile!
Top 10 Score: 2.27, nominated on 4 of 11 ballots.

Photo: Disney

Our phones have 1000000s of photos on them after we get back. Do everyone a favor – pick your favorites, edit them up a bit and share those. No one, even the most diehard Disney fan, wants to see every single photo you take.

If you’re doing the PhotoPass shots – even better! More fun!

Stuffed Animals
Living the Plush Life
Top 10 Score: 3.05, nominated on 5 of 11 ballots. 1 first place vote.

Photo: Disney

Watching your little ones snuggle their favorite mini-version of a Disney character is priceless. Disney has more versions of stuffed characters to buy and bring home, than they do snowflakes at the Christmas Party.

Some folks collect many different ones. Others collect all the same character. What’s your choice?

Ornaments
Deck the Halls…
Top 10 Score: 3.09, nominated on 6 of 11 ballots. 1 first place vote.

Photo: Disney

Ok, there may be MORE ornaments to choose from than Stuffed Animals. Seriously, especially this time of year, the stores are FULL of them. Pretty much if you can put ears on it and a hook – you’ve got an ornament.

(Keith: Check out our Instagram feed for the ornament we picked up this year!)

Mugs
Coffee – NEED COFFEE!
Top 10 Score: 3.64, nominated on 6 of 11 ballots. 2 first place votes.

Photo: Disney

Coffee, tea, hot cocoa… it all tastes better in a clever Disney mug. Doesn’t it?

Magnets
You’ll get Stuck on them
Top 10 Score: 4.09, nominated on 8 of 11 ballots.

Photo: Disney

They’re on your fridge. In the office. In the garage. Magnets – they’re everywhere. And every time we look at them we can be brought back to special memory of the day we added them to the collection.

Ears
They Are EVERYWHERE
Top 10 Score: 4.64, nominated on 6 of 11 ballots.1 first place vote.

Photo: Disney

It used to be our names stitched into the black Mickey ears cap. Now it’s Minnie ear headbands and LOTS of them. Plush ones, shiny ones, glittered ones, character ones, light-up ones, food ones, classic ones, and even jewel encrusted ones. Rarely do you see anyone in the parks without them!

Pins
Let’s Trade
Top 10 Score: 5.00, nominated on 7 of 11 ballots. 2 first place votes.

Photo: Disney

Pin trading, in the parks, is a HUUUUGE deal. You see CMs posted in many spots with huge boards or lanyards FULL of pins for folks to trade. You can find a zillion new ones in the shops. It’s all pins, all the time.

Our wish lists had lots of other things too. The list included Art, Pens, Maps, Pressed Pennies, Magic Bands, Popcorn Buckets or Sipper Cups, Bags, Diecast Vehicles, Buttons, Puzzles, Post Cards and soooo much more.

Of course, we have to all agree that memories are the best thing we bring home from every trip. Right? Yeah, I thought so.

What do you collect? Are Pins YOUR #1? Share your ideas in the comments below or on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Thanks for reading and always remember – DADventure is out there!

Cheers,
Keith
