Our topic this week: Top 10 Favorite Things To Do NOT in the Disney Theme Parks

We love Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios as much as anyone – but there are way more things to do on the Disney property that aren’t through the park gates!

We put our heads together and came up with our favorites. We have 35 different ideas that popped in our minds, and here are our Top 10 for you! After you check out our list, hit the comments below and let us know what YOU do when you’re not in the main parks!

Let’s go!

The LEGO Store
Building Excitement!
Top 10 Score: 1.56, nominated on 3 of 9 ballots.

It’s a LEGO store like you’ll find in most major shopping malls, but it’s at DISNEY! They do have some Disney exclusive items there, but it’s fun no matter what you bring home to build and play with!

Disney World AND Disneyland both have one!

Surrey Bikes
Various Locations
Top 10 Score: 1.89, nominated on 3 of 9 ballots.

For only $25 a person (over 3) you can ride around in style! Choose a 2- or 4-person Surrey bike for an outing that’s fun for the whole family!

Don’t miss your chance to cruise along the banks of the Sassagoula River, pedal down the promenade by Barefoot Bay, or wheel around a woodland trail. Rental locations include: Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s BoardWalk Villas, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort.

Movies Under The Stars
Various Resorts
Top 10 Score: 1.89, nominated on 3 of 9 ballots.

Complimentary movie screenings are available to Guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels.

Whether you’re sitting poolside or surrounded by Floridian woodlands, enjoy relaxing evening entertainment that’s fun for the whole family!

For movie schedules, please check with the Front Desk at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel

Resort Hopping
You Don’t Have To Keep To Your Own!
Top 10 Score: 2.00, nominated on 4 of 9 ballots.

Jump on the Skyliner, Buses, Monorail or other Disney Transportation (See Our Top 10 Favorites!) and check out what all the resorts have to offer. Top of the line pools, restaurants, bars and shopping are hidden at each resort. If you don’t pop in to sample it all – you’re missing out!

Water Parks
TWO in Orlando
Top 10 Score: 2.44, nominated on 4 of 9 ballots.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach are fantastic ways to spend a day and cool off! Full of thrills and ways to chill – it’s a perfect non-park day with the whole family!

Mini Golf
FORE!
Top 10 Score: 3.11, nominated on 6 of 9 ballots.

Disney is known for their majestic golf courses (another fun thing to do outside the parks!) but did you know there are some amazing MINI golf courses too? Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland Mini Golf courses are a real fun way to spend a morning or afternoon outside of the parks.

Everyone loves mini golf and it’s even better when it’s DISNEY!

Have a Drink
Cheers!
Top 10 Score: 3.22, nominated on 4 of 9 ballots.

At the pools, in the bars, down at Downtown Disney or Disney Springs – belly up to the bar and order yourself a tasty beverage!

Go For A Swim
Every Resort Has a Pool!
Top 10 Score: 5.56, nominated on 7 of 9 ballots. 2 first place votes.

While you’re Resort Hopping – bring your bathing suits (DVC Members are allowed to Pool Hop!)! The pools at Disney are famous for their amazing theming!

Disney Springs
Disney Does A Mall
Top 10 Score: 5.56, nominated on 8 of 9 ballots. 2 first place votes.

Shopping. Eating. Drinking. Entertainment. Downtown Disney in California has it – and Disney Springs in Orlando does too.

If you haven’t been in a few years – GO BACK! Disney Springs have been revitalized with amazing restaurants, bars and every kind of Disney store you could ask for.

Resort Restaurants
Any Cuisine Your Could Want
Top 10 Score: 5.67, nominated on 7 of 9 ballots. 2 first place votes.

Disney World AND Disneyland have resort restaurants that can rival anything in New York City, Los Angeles or Chicago. Quick counter service spots to five-star (even one Michelin Star Rated!) restaurants – the resorts have them all.

Look for a Top 10 Favorite Resort Restaurants coming soon!

What do you do when you’re not in the parks? Do you ever NOT go to the parks? Would any of these tempt you to try them out for the first time?
