Welcome back to DADventure Disney’s round table of some of my favorite Disney Fan Parents on Instagram.
Every week, I work alongside this merry band of Disney fan parents to find our Top 10 favorites in all things Disney. See ALL our lists by clicking HERE!
This week, the group consists of these Disney Parent Panelists:
@disenchanted.dad & @dismoms,
and yours truly @dadventuredisney.

Our topic this week: Top 10 Favorite Things To Do In The Magic Kindom
Magic Kingdom – it’s the icon of all of Walt Disney World. All the lands. All the food. All the characters. For many, if you only have ONE day at Disney – it’s the park you go to. It’s also the consensus #1 park with the kiddies in tow.
The Disney Parents Panel came up with our Top 10 MUST DO items while in the Magic Kingdom.
It was a difficult task for many us – choosing ONLY ten!? But we did it. In fact, we came up with OVER 40 different things between the group of us. It’s just so hard to choose. I bet if I asked them all the same question next week, I’d get a different list.
After you view our ten, hit the comments below and let us know what you think of our list – what did we miss? What deserves to be higher?
Let’s get magical!
Treats at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments
In Liberty Square
Top 10 Score: 2.10, nominated on 3 of 10 ballots.
Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is becoming a new favorite of many Magic Kingdom fans. The Nutella waffles. The Mickey Chicken Sandwich on a Waffle. The foot-long corndog. The Churro Ice Cream Sandwich!!
In fact, there are MANY cool spots to eat throughout the Magic Kingdom. Our crew suggests Casey’s Corner, the Egg-Roll Cart, Aloha Isle and Sunshine Tree Terrace for Dole Whips and Swirls, and of course anywhere you can get a Mickey Pretzel, Churro or Popcorn.
Top 10 Score: 2.20, nominated on 4 of 10 ballots.
Need a relaxing cruise around Tomorrowland for a break in the day? Hop aboard the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
One thing to keep in mind that may be a little surprising – the ride, while mostly outdoors, does go through Space Mountain and gets VERY dark in that spot. Little kids can get a bit freaked (some adults, too).
Main Street U.S.A.
Shops, Sounds and Sights
Top 10 Score: 2.50, nominated on 3 of 10 ballots. 1 first place vote.
Both Disneyland and Disney World share a lot of Magic Kingdom ideas – including Main Street U.S.A. It was modeled after Walt’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri while he was growing up. Entering Main Street transports us back to a simpler time.
The cool vintage vehicles, the Emporium or Bake Shop, the Dapper Dans singing up and down Main Street – it’s all a fun way to leave the ‘real world behind’.
Once you’re walking down Main Street you know you’re home!
Cinderella’s Castle (and all around)
Top 10 Score: 2.60, nominated on 5 of 10 ballots.
Whether it’s the “Happily Ever After” show currently transfixing crowds with its mix of music, lights and projections on Cinderella’s Castle, or any of the variations that came before it, the fireworks at the end of a long day at the Magic Kingdom are the perfect ending.
The memories adults have, the familiar music, the sight of Tinkerbell flying on her path from the highest part of the castle…
I need a minute, I’m getting all choked up here….
Get Those Autographs
Top 10 Score: 2.70, nominated on 4 of 10 ballots.
You can meet Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana and Elena of Avalor.
You can meet Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Pooh, Tigger, Ariel, Alice…
You can meet MICKEY!!
Is it truly a trip to Disney if you don’t get your picture with the Main Mouse?
Whether it’s a wait-in-line meet and greet or you run into your favorite characters walking through the park – it’s always special to get to wave to, high-five or get a hug from the best of Disney.
Top 10 Score: 3.10, nominated on 5 of 10 ballots. 1 first place vote.
When the crypt goes creak,
And the tombstones quake.
Spooks come out for a swinging wake.
Happy haunts materialize,
And begin to vocalize.
Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize.
Top 10 Score: 3.60, nominated on 5 of 10 ballots. 2 first place votes.
Of all the photos of the characters, shows, rides, food, buildings and such… your favorites are going to be the ones with you all in them together.
While most of the Magic Kingdom stays unchanged from year to year – you and your family won’t.
Capture those treasured memories to cherish for years to come.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Top 10 Score: 3.70, nominated on 5 of 10 ballots. 1 first place vote.
Yo Ho Yo Ho! It’s truly a pirate’s life for me! This classic ride has aged SO well. A little adventure, a little humor, a little bit of modern movie touches and a lot of nostalgia – Pirates has it all.
If you’re looking to expand on the pirate feel, try The Pirate’s League.
From Disney: Ahoy! Think you’ve got what it takes to join the Pirates League? Come aboard for a swashbuckling pirate transformation that can include a hairstyle, facial effect and other special treasures. Or choose a deluxe head-to-toe makeover into a mesmerizing mermaid or pirate captain! To complete your initiation, the Pirate Masters will give you a unique name—and share stories of life on the high seas.
Ride the Mountains
Get Your FP+
Top 10 Score: 4.20, nominated on 9 of 10 ballots. 1 first place vote.
Is there a more famous mountain range than at Disney? At least one you can RIDE with thrill rides all day long?
BIG THUNDER MOUNTAIN!
Which is your favorite?
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Top 10 Score: 5.50, nominated on 7 of 10 ballots. 2 first place votes.
Still a fairly ‘new’ ride at Magic Kingdom (debuted in 2014) the runaway mine train shoots guests on a 34mph trek through the colorful mines.
Have your FastPass planning fingers ready on the FIRST minute of the FIRST day you can book your FastPasses – they go FAST! Seven Dwarfs is the Flight of Passage of the Magic Kingdom.
Have you been on it yet?
What’s your first stop at MK? Do you meet Mickey? Where do you eat? Do you Rope Drop till Fireworks?
