Getting back to the Christmas/Holiday party details I promised you last week before Genie+ took over everything. (We have all the current details on Genie over at the website, click to check it out.).

Disney also shared some ideas about how they’re going to update Splash Mountain.

We are celebrating World Princess Week in this week’s Disney Brain Teaser and I have a few other announcements, too.

Your support means the world and I’m happy you’re here. Let’s get to it!

Over a year ago, Disney announced that they were going to re-do the ever popular Splash Mountain (in both WDW and Disneyland) and step away from the current theme based on Song of the South and update it with a theme worthy of The Princess and the Frog.

This week, they released some art work to share a bit more of what they’re thinking.

Here’s what Disney had to say:

”As seen in this latest rendering of the attraction, the story will take place after the final kiss as Naveen and Louis join Tiana on her latest adventure, hosting a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome – during which some original music inspired by songs from the film will bring guests into the story. Tiana is leading the way and fans will be able to encounter old friends and make new ones along the way as well.”

A lot of the inspiration for the forthcoming changes were inspired by Sharika Mahdl, a visual artist and educator who was commissioned to create a series of paintings to help Imagineers visualize Tiana’s world.

The construction plans are not expected to go into effect immediately, in fact, Disney has said it could be a couple years before it’s done.

DADventure’s TwoCents:
For anyone who has followed DvD over the past couple years, you know I’m more of an experience and slower rides kinda guy. However, I have gone on Splash Mountain a few times and the experience of the ride greatly outweighed the fear of the ‘drop’. I haven’t gone on with my little kids yet, but will be happy to when they feel up to it.

As far as changing out Song of the South and replacing it with The Princess and the Frog – I love it on several levels.

I love that a movie that was made in a different time and focused on parts of our human history that we can’t be proud of can respectfully be put into the Disney vault and be replaced with a movie that so amazingly celebrates a culture as rich as the one Tiana lives in.

My kids love Princess and the Frog and personally I think it’s one of the strongest soundtracks of any Disney movie – so it will mean more to them than not having a connection (other than Zip A Dee Doo Daa) to Song of the South.

(Side Note: Should I do a story about my favorite Disney soundtracks? Reply and let me know.)

So, yes, I’m very happy for this change. It’s going to mean that the ride will close for a bit of time, whenever work starts on it – and that could put a crimp in the plans of many who love the ride as it is. I’ll keep my eyes open for potential closings of Splash Mountain and will keep you all in the loop.
photo: DisneyChristmas Party Details
My July 13th newsletter (click here to read it) shared info about how the Christmas time holidays would be celebrated across all the Walt Disney World parks.

One of the biggest pieces of news was that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party was going to be replaced by Disney Very Merriest After Hours.

Since that info came out, we have found details for the event.

November 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 28, 30
December 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 19, 21

Admission starts at 7:00pm and the event ends at 12:00amPRICING:

Tickets range from $169 to $229, plus tax. ($249 +tax on December 19 and 21)

Remember, these are tickets separate from your Magic Kingdom passes earlier in the day. If you’re in the park for the day, you’ll have to leave and if you have tickets to the after hour event, come back in.

Guests of select Disney Resorts began booking their tickets starting August 17th. The general public and started booking on August 20th.

Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade (That’s right – a REAL PARADE!)

Smaller lines for favorite attractions such as; Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, Dumbo, Space Mountain, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight and more.

Club Tinsel dance party in Tomorrowland.

Complimentary snacks that include ice cream, popcorn, holiday goodies and some beverages.

Disney characters throughout the park – dressed in all their joyous holiday duds.

DADVENTURE TIPS: This is a LOT of money to spend on a late night event. If you have very little kids, make sure they’re up for it – especially if you’ve already been running around a park all day. If you are staying on property – go back to the resort and find a quiet time/nap to work in to be sure you don’t have sleeping/crying kids the whole event you paid extra for.

Jungle Cruise Updates Are Done
Today, Disney Parks announced that with the Alberta Falls mural (seen above) the new additions and changes to the Jungle Cruise attraction have been completed at Walt Disney World.

From Disney:
Disney Imagineers created new characters, scenes and an expanded story, establishing Alberta as the proprietor of Jungle Navigation Company Ltd.”

You can see a lot of the new pieces on a video I shared a while ago on social media.

DADventure’s Thoughts: Much like my thoughts with Splash Mountain, I’m always happy to see a place I love to visit, doing what they can to make things more relatable in our current day and age.

Unfortunately, some of the ride scenes didn’t depict moments we should continue to celebrate, and I’ll all for updating it. Change isn’t always bad – especially when it’s done for good reason.

Jungle Cruise in one of my Top 10 favorite attractions across all of Disney World (Yes, I AM going to do a series of my Top 50 attractions to celebrate Disney’s 50th Anniversary – stay tuned.). I can’t wait to see it, in person, with the new updates.
You know I had to share MORE golden statues that have been revealed!

This past week we’ve found Pinocchio, Nemo and Dory, Simba and most recently: Olaf and Bruni.

You can watch videos of them all by clicking here.
Can you guess what Disney item this graphic represents? It could be a movie, or a song or a quote or a character. Let me know your answers and I’ll share all the correct guesses next time!

This week is World Princess Week, according to Disney, so I’ll share a Princess related brain teaser this week.

Congrats to Nick who guessed that last week’s brain teaser was “Practically Perfect in Every Way” from Mary Poppins.

Submit your answer by replying to this message and I’ll share next week’s smarty pants in the newsletter.
One more announcement – I’m going to be brushing off my Podcast equipment and re-launching the DADventure podcast talking all things Disney. What do you want to see? What questions would you like answered? What interviews should I stretch to find? PLEASE reply to this or CLICK HERE to get in touch and give me your ideas.

Have a great weekend and I’ll talk with you all next week.

So Long,
